CANVax Account

How do I create an account?

To create a CANVax account:

  1. Scroll to the top of the website page
  2. Select Register 
  3. Fill out the registration form 
  4. Select Submit to complete the registration 

How do I login/logout

To login/logout of your CANVax account:

  1. Scroll to the top of the website page
  2. Select Login or Log out

If logging in, enter your email and password

How do I change or reset my password?

To change or reset your password:

  1. Scroll to the top of the website page
  2. Select My Profile – if not logged in, login and go your account profile
  3. Select Manage Password
  4. Fill out the form to change your password
  5. Select Change Password

What is my display name?

When you add a rating or comment on a resource, your name is not displayed. All responses are anonymous. Refer to our Content Submission Guidelines to learn about how comments are moderated on the website. 

How do I delete my account?

To delete your CANVax account:

  1. Scroll to the top of the website page 
  2. Select My Profile – if not logged in, login and go to your account profile 
  3. Select Delete My Account 
  4. Fill out the form to delete your account
  5. Select Submit

Note that once the form is submitted, your request will be sent to the CANVax team who will delete your account. Once your account has been deleted, CANVax will follow up via email to confirm the deletion of your account. If you have any questions, contact us.

Resource Ratings and Comments

What is a resource rating?

Resource ratings provide a summary of CANVax users’ experience using a specific resource. Users who have created an account can submit their rating for a resource using a 5-star rating scale according to three categories:

  • Relevance: How relevant and applicable is the information?
  • Value: How useful is the information?
  • Clarity: How clear or easy is it to understand the information?

Please note that to access the rating feature you must be logged into your CANVax account. All resource ratings are anonymous.  

What is a resource comment?

CANVax users can share their experience by providing comments on resources they have used.  It’s an opportunity for users to describe what worked, what didn’t and how the resource was adapted. The feedback provided through the comments helps the CANVax community understand how a resource can be used or improved upon for their program or setting. 

Please note that to access the comment feature you must be logged into your CANVax account. All comments are anonymous. 

Who can see resource ratings and comments?

CANVax users who have created an account and are logged in can view all comments and ratings including the breakdown for ratings. User who do not have an account or are not logged in will only be able to view partial comments and ratings. 

Please note that to access the rating and comment feature you must be logged into your CANVax account. All ratings and comments are anonymous. 

I made a rating/comment, why isn't it appearing online?

All resource comments and ratings are reviewed by the CANVax team prior to it being published on the CANVax site to ensure that they adhere to submission guidelines.  Please note that although the CANVax team aims to review and publish ratings and comments in a timely manner, higher volume may result in delays.

Resources

How do I share a resource?

You can share resources that you find over social media or by email.  
To do this:

  1. Go to the resource you wish to share
  2. Located on the right side of the screen, select the method you wish to share the resource

Note, if sharing over social media, you will be prompted to log into your social media account to share the resource.

How do I recommend a resource for the CANVax database?

The CANVax team is always looking for new resources to share on the CANVax website. 
To share a resource:

  1. Scroll to the top of the website and select the plus icon (+) that is found right beside the Resource menu tab
  2. Select Share your Resources
  3. Fill out the form, providing information about the resource and your contact details
  4. Select Submit to complete the submission process

Please note that submitted resources will be reviewed by the CANVax team for consideration to the website. 

How do I submit a complex question?

CANVax welcomes users to share complex questions where further support and understanding is needed. The questions you share will help us understand what the gaps, challenges and needs are, and allow us to identify further topics and areas for exploration and guide the development of resources for CANVax. 

To share a complex question:

  1. Scroll to the top of the website and select the plus icon (+) that is found right beside the Resource menu tab
  2. Select Complex Questions 
  3. Fill out the form by providing your question 
  4. Select Submit to complete the submission process

Please note that questions submitted will be used to identify further topics and areas where support is needed. CANVax will not be directly responding to these questions. 

How do I bookmark/unbookmark a resource?

Please note that to use the bookmark feature, you must be logged into your CANVax account.

To bookmark a resource:

  1. Login to your CANVax account
  2. Go to the resource you wish to bookmark
  3. On the right side of the resource look for ‘Bookmark’
  4. Select Bookmark 
  5. The resource is now bookmarked and can be found in your account profile 

To unbookmark a resource:

  1. Login to your CANVax account
  2. Go to your account profile and scroll down to ‘Bookmarked Resource’
  3. Identify the resource you wish to unbookmark 
  4. Select unbookmark and confirm you wish to unbookmark the resource

Note that you can also unbookmark a resource by going directly to the resource you bookmarked and selecting ‘Bookmarked’.  

How do I save/unsave a search?

Please note that to use the save search feature, you must be logged into your CANVax account. 

To save a search:

  1. Login to your CANVax account
  2. Go to the search you wish to save
  3. On the right side of the search results you will see ‘Save Search’
  4. Select Save Search  
  5. The search is now saved and can be found in your account profile 

To unsave your search:

  1. Login to your CANVax account
  2. Go to your account profile 
  3. Go to Saved Searches located on the right side of your account profile
  4. Identify the search you wish to unsave/remove
  5. Select Remove and confirm you wish to remove the saved search 

Note that you can also unsave/remove a saved search on the search page by selecting ‘Remove saved search’.  

Searching Resources

Tips and tricks for searching 

Use the following search techniques to help you find the information that you are looking for on CANVax:

  • Identify the keywords in your topic of search. It is recommended to think of synonyms for your keywords to help expand your search. 
  • Use Boolean Operators in your search, such as AND, OR and NOT
    • AND is used to join terms. It tells the database that all the search terms must be included in the search results.
    • OR is used to combine words that have similar concepts or the same meaning. It tells the database that the search results can contain either or both words.
    • NOT is used to exclude words from your search results. 
  • Use quotations (“ ”) in your search when you have a specific search query. Using search quotes tells the database that you only want results that include these search terms in the exact form you typed them. 
  • Use truncations, denoted by * to broaden your search to include a variety of spellings and word endings.  Example: vaccin* = vaccine, vaccines, vaccination

Newsletter

How do I sign up for the CANVax newsletter?

There are two ways you can sign up to the newsletter:
Creating a CANVax account:

  1. Scroll to the top of the website page
  2. Select Register 
  3. Fill out the form, including your communication preference to sign up to the CANVax newsletter
  4. Select Submit to complete the registration 

Without creating a CANVax account:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the website
  2. Enter your email in the Newsletter block
  3. Select Sign Up, you will be redirected to a form
  4. Fill out the registration form 
  5. Select Subscribe  
     

How do I unsubscribe from the CANVax newsletter?

There are two ways you can unsubscribe from the newsletter:
CANVax account:

  1. Go to your account profile
  2. Update your communication preference by deselecting ‘I want to receive newsletters’
  3. Select Save Changes 

Newsletter:

  1. Go to a recent newsletter you received from CANVax
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the newsletter and select unsubscribe
